Pick up your rental car and drive to your hotel in Taormina, a town perched above the Ionian Sea with a medieval flair and spectacular Mt. Etna views.
Travel up the slopes of Mt. Etna to Nicolosi, starting point for the final ascent of the volcano. On the way back, travel by the lovely resorts of Acireale, Giarre, Giardini and Mazzar?. Enjoy Taormina's lively night scene. (B)
Depart for Catania (approx. 32 miles) and after a view of its Baroque buildings, palaces and churches leave for Agrigento (approx. 104 miles), where you will be astounded by its Valley of Temples. Of the dozen of them, the Concorde is in a good state. (B)
Drive to Segesta (approx. 89 miles). Here the temple is seen from afar. It is one of the most perfectly come down from antiquity. Journey to Erice (approx. 24 miles), a labyrinth of medieval narrow streets defended by walls and towers at an elevation of 2,464 feet with luminous seascapes.
