Las Pumas Rescue Center and Sanctuary was founded in 1989 by Switzerland nationals, Werner Hagnauer and his wife Lilly Bodmer. Las Pumas is a place with 30 years of experience, and a long trajectory in the management of Costa Rican wildlife. In 2001, Lilly passed away, and Mr. Werner, along with some friends, decided to create the Hagnauer Foundation in her honor, which nowadays is the non-profit organization in charge of managing the Rescue Center and Sanctuary. Llanos del Cortez Waterfall

Start your day as you hike across the 2-mile Arenal Hanging Bridges and see the jungle from high above the forest floor. Your guide will teach you about Costa Rican culture, history, while you experience what we like to call &#34;nature therapy.&#34; Immerse yourself in nature while you try to spot different species of plants, animals, and birds for approx. 2.5 hrs. along the way. Appreciate the wildlife as you cross the 15 different bridges, 6 of them are the ones hanging. These trails bring you as close as you&#8217;d ever hope to see the rainforest and its inhabitants, as well as give you access to see stunning views of the rainforest and mountains. After your adventure on the hanging bridges, you will head to the Arenal Volcano 1968 Park. Hike thought the breath-taken lava flow for 1.5 hours to 2 hours. -- perfect for a leisurely and informative hike. We&#8217;ll head through the jungle, hiking through well-groomed, easy trails that skirt the base of the Arenal Volcano. Once you're done in the 1968 park, you'll head to the restaurant where you will get to try delicious Costa Rican food that makes you feel good -- there are plenty of vegetarian options, gluten-free, lactose- free and vegan, too, available. Then, you'll finish the day at the stunning La Fortuna Waterfall. When you reach the entrance, you will have time to change into your bathing suit in case you want to cool off in the cool pools that flow from the waterfall. This is sure to be a good workout as there are 500 steps to get to the down to the waterfall, and 500 to get back up. This tour offers the auspicious site of the imposing Arenal Volcano and the soothing thermal waters of Baldi Hot Springs. Not to mention the lush vegetation and unforgettable views that make this place one to remember.&#10;The impressive Arenal Volcano is a magnificent natural wonder that is situated in La Fortuna (The Fortune) of San Carlos, previously assumed to be dormant, until in 1968, when it experienced a major eruption. Now is visited by tourist from all around the world hoping for the opportunity to witness volcanic activity, such as the white plumes of smoke that emanate from the conical shaped behemoth.&#10;Enroute to the Arenal Volcano there will be a stop in the famous town of Sarchi, known as the birthplace of Costa Rica&#8217;s Artisans. In Sarchi, you may very well see an ox cart that holds the title as being the largest ox cart in the world. The cart is made of wood (cedar) and is decorated with stunning colors, such as a bright orange. The design is typical and intricate, indicative of traditional oxcarts. The ox cart is two stories high and took 70 days to complete. The oxcart is also deserving an honorable mention in the Guinness book of world records.&#10;The journey will then continue, traversing diverse plantations with agricultural products, including pineapple farms, and mango groves, ornamental plants and cattle ranches until arriving to the small town of La Fortuna, and stopping to enjoy lunch at a cozy restaurant with a spectacular view of the Arenal volcano.&#10;Then you will go on to relax at one of the best hot springs in the area where you will enjoy the rejuvenating effects of the thermal waters. The facilities at Baldi provided 25 separate mineral water reservoirs that flow naturally from the volcano. The medicinal waters are certified by L.N.A.
