PRIVATE COOKING CLASS AT MYKONIAN SPITI

‘Spiti’ means home — and the “Mykonian Spiti” is our home, where you are warmly welcomed for this unique cooking experience. While this activity highlights the traditional Mykonian lifestyle, calling it simply “traditional” doesn’t quite do it justice. Over approximately six hours, you will immerse yourself in the authentic Greek way of life, the culture, and the art of Greek cooking. It’s not just about what you do, but how you do it. During this time, you’ll learn the cooking tips and methods that have made Mykonian Spiti, Mykonos, and Greece beloved by visitors and locals alike. More importantly, you’ll absorb the hospitality and everyday lifestyle of a traditional Mykonian family. After being picked up from your hotel, port, or preferred location, you’ll be transferred to Mykonian Spiti. There, Teta will warmly welcome you into her beautiful Mykonian home and create an intimate, charming evening that will be one of the highlights of your trip to the “Island of the Winds.” She will share stories about Mykonian culture and history, her family’s life, and make you feel as if you are visiting close relatives or friends. You’ll learn about the true Mykonian lifestyle while enjoying meze snacks such as dakos with kopanisti cheese and tomato, louza (sun-dried pork fillets), local wine, and Cretan raki. You’ll also explore her vegetable garden, learn about organic farming, and simply enjoy the warm atmosphere. Then, you’ll move to the kitchen to prepare tzatziki, spinach pie, stuffed peppers, tomatoes, and other traditional dishes from the Mykonian Spiti menu. Protective aprons will be provided for all guests, and most ingredients will be ready and waiting in special bowls for the cooking session. Teta will guide you step-by-step, giving everyone the chance to sharpen their culinary skills. There will be a short break between cooking and tasting to relax and enjoy the company of fellow guests. Then, it’s time to feast — savoring as much as you like of the delicious meal you helped create. There are many more details we could share about this experience, but the essence is simple: this is much more than just learning to cook a fabulous Greek meal. It’s about family, conversation, food, culture, and becoming part of a family you may not have known you had. It’s quality time spent in someone’s home, helping to cook, meeting new people, and being honored as part of our extended family.
